Our Philosophy

 The first five years of a child’s life are the most precious and influential years for developing a strong foundation in which they will build upon the rest of their lives.  

 

Young children are very inquisitive of their environment and have a natural need to explore and learn.  Therefore it is imperative that children are provided the opportunity to interact, learn and play in a safe, stimulating, and positive child-oriented environment.   By observing the children’s play and expressed interests, I will take every opportunity to facilitate their learning and enjoyment. I also strongly believe in keeping an open line of communication and developing close trusting relationships with each child’s family.

 

Dreams and Discoveries Day Home offers a full-time preschool play-based program.  There is a ten-month curriculum schedule, teaching popular Preschool monthly themed lessons such as Insects, Ocean Life,  Animals, Numbers, Shapes, etc.  A calendar of our themes and activities will be posted monthly.  

 

The daily routine consists of:

Circle Time: calendar, songs, learning games, creative movement

Free Play: in open learning centers,

sand / water play, blocks, dramatic play, shelf toys, library area

Creative Art and Outside Play

Children's Yoga and Mindful Meditation Minute.

 

Part of the routine is also, of course, meal and snack preparation, where the children are encouraged and welcome to help (cook, bake, set the table, etc...)  

 

Children thrive on routine and I believe in maintaining a daily schedule that is predictable for the children and flows according to their needs.
